Jindo
Jindo’s seaweed farming environment is superior due to its lower temperatures—about 2°C cooler than other aquaculture regions in Jeollanam-do—and abundant sunlight, which enhances the flavor of its seaweed.
Unlike other nori farms, Jindo benefits from strong tidal currents that prevent a harmful algal bloom and ensure a balanced supply of oceanic nutrients, making it a prime location for producing nori. Additionally, its wakame is rich in essential nutrients that help postpartum mothers recover quickly, making it a well-known regional specialty with a refined texture.
With significant tidal variations throughout the year, the sea remains dynamic, preventing red tide formation.
Among Korea’s 100+ H&N facilities, Jindo has the highest concentration, making it the optimal location for cultivating various seaweed species.
