265 large and small islands protect the waves of the sea with strong winds and rough waves to form optimal seaweed farms, and an efficient transportation network around 11 large islands connects the islands to boost the industry.
The Wando seabed is a clean aquaculture area recognized as the world's best seaweed for its excellent purification and excellent nutritional salts with 90% elvan rock layer, and is also recognized by NASA for its eco-friendly marine aquaculture techniques.

Wando County, Jeollanam-do, produces 16,772 tons of abalone, accounting for 72% of the nation’s total production, making it the primary production area.
Known as the "Ginseng of the Sea," abalone is considered a complete food, boasting superior nutritional value compared to any other food.
In particular, Wando abalone grows on seaweed and kelp from the clean sea formed of elvan stones and is rich in various vitamins, iron, calcium, and protein.
